Claire Evelyn Hope, Scotland U.K. 1984
Claire Hope is an Edinburgh-based painter whose work explores themes of the subconscious, intuition, aesthetics, and emotion.

Building on 17 years as a creative lighting designer, Hope is now an artist on a mission to translate her passion for the visual experience into painting. Within her first year, Hope has been selected for the Visual Art Scotland Centenary Show 2024 and the Autumn Exhibition at Duke's contemporary art gallery.

Her abstract expressive style is characterized by bold colors and energetic brushstrokes. Hope aims to omit readily recognizable objects from her work in order to create space for personal interpretation and meaning. Her paintings, while diverse, explore the relationships of form, color, texture, and emotion. Hope is investigating how visual art can help us to understand both ourselves and our interactions with others.

Having worked in a creative field for her whole career, Claire has a wide range of experience from light art installations to bronze sculptures. Now as a dedicated artist, she plans to channel her energy into painting and is relishing the autonomy of being the sole creator.
